Answers to the most common questions about CoFoundry, the selection process, and how the program works.

CoFoundry is open to people who live in Quebec, are eligible to receive the program’s financial support and are available full time for the 12 weeks. We’re looking for people who seriously want to build a technology company, from a wide range of backgrounds and expertise: science, engineering, technology, product, entrepreneurship, business, industry, operations, design and many others. There is no single ideal co-founder profile.

No. CoFoundry is open to all professional and academic backgrounds. No university affiliation is required.

No. You can arrive without a specific idea or project. If you already have a lead you want to explore, you can bring it, as long as you’re ready to question it and explore other opportunities.

No. All applications are individual, and you must join CoFoundry without an already-formed founding team. Forming and testing your team is an integral part of the program.

Companies developed in CoFoundry must have a technology component. You don’t, however, need to know what you want to build before you start.

CoFoundry is a full-time, 12-week program, delivered mainly in person at Ax-C in Montreal. The program is not designed to be followed alongside a full-time job.

CoFoundry is delivered in French. You need a sufficient level of understanding to take part fully in the activities and work with your team.

Yes. Participants can receive up to $2,500 CAD a month for three months to support their full-time participation. Payment of the stipend is conditional on meeting the program’s requirements and continuing in the program.

No. V1 Studio takes no equity in companies created through CoFoundry.

Not necessarily. At key moments in the program, each person’s and each team’s progress is assessed to determine whether the conditions are in place to continue. Commitment, collaboration, execution and progress are among the elements considered.

No. The final phase prepares the teams that continue to present their company to investors and open initial funding conversations. Any investment decision belongs to the investors.

Teams that emerge from the program continue their entrepreneurial journey according to their needs and level of maturity, notably with incubators, investors and other resources in Quebec’s ecosystem.
